Genre: Thriller/Action
In thriller/action movies, there is normally a type of hero character that is going through a struggle against a greater power. In most cases of these movies, they're suspenseful plot changes, unexpected scenes, and big action throughout the scenes. These movies tend to have lots of CGI and effects to create scenes that would not be possible without them. On top of that, there are normally stunts done by professionals and increased danger while filming these productions.
There are many common techniques in thriller movies that are used to create a greater suspenseful feeling. An example of a technique that they use is negative space. This negative space makes the eyes relax on a dark or open area of the screen. Something that may be surprising is the use of mirrors in thriller movies. Mirrors give a suspenseful feeling to a scene because of the scary nature mirrors were used in past movies.
The thriller/action movie genre is normally marketed to 15-30, and this is the case because teens like the feeling of thrills. Many thriller/action movie productions normally market themselves as films for the thrill taking and made to excite the viewers. But the main goal is to keep everyone on the edge of their seats while watching their film and market that their film will do just that.
Midsommar is another good example of a thriller movie. This movie has many hidden dark meanings, scary backstories, creepy characters, and a cult with bad intentions. There are many gory scenes with bloody kills and sacrifices. It also has many plot twists to keep you on your seat and scenes the viewers would have to think about twice.
