Genre Research

Today I decide that genre should be my focus for my research. I started with looking at action, thrillers, horror, and comedy since these were the genres I was most interested in for my film. These genres were the most appealing to me because these seem to be the films I personally watch the most. For these genres, there are many distinct things that set them apart from the rest. In action movies, there is normally a type of struggle or a hero that creates action throughout the movie. Thrillers are suspenseful films that only show parts to the full plot to keep the audience on their toes. Horror movies generally focus on scare factors or gross scenes to create horror in the audience. Lastly, the comedy genre allows for laughs throughout the crowd as funny characters do ridiculous things.

The genre that sticks out the most when it comes to making a movie, would be thriller. It such a diverse genre which allows me to do so much stuff in it. It lets me be free with my opener but still have a standard and generality to the opener. Which allows me to do interesting new things, but keeping it similar and familiar to people who've watched thrillers.
